Bekwick Suspensory Ligament
Nutritional supports for suspensory ligaments
Supplemented to support joints, tendons, and ligaments
by providing carefully selected ingredients to include Glucosamine HCL and Chondroitin Sulfate, which is a good source of sulphur, as it is an essential mineral for the proper support of connective tissues and plays a role in maintaining proper joint lubricant function.
Suspensory ligament injuries are the most common and also the most serious, as well as the most difficult to treat. Suspensory ligament injuries may occur from a single traumatic event or may be associated with chronic degeneration over time. DHA will especially help horses with respiratory problems such as coughing, heaves, or other respiratory dysfunction. The ingredients, such as glucosamine, can ensure mobile joints and a resistant connective tissue.
The hyaluronic acid contained ensures optimal joint lubrication and can also have a positive influence on joints and cartilage. Glucosamine has been promoted to stimulate the synthesis of synovial fluid, inhibit degradation, and improve healing of articular cartilage. Glucosamine sulfate (GS) stimulates the manufacture of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). Chondroitin sulfate, which is a category of glycosaminoglycans, promotes the incorporation of sulfur (support to connective tissues) into cartilage. With age comes a reduced ability to synthesize sufficient glucosamine; cartilage loses its gel-like nature and ability to absorb shock. Lysine is considered the first rate-limiting amino acid in horses because it is the one that is most likely to be low in the diet and constrain protein synthesis.
Threonine and methionine are typically considered the second and third most limiting amino acids, respectively. These three amino acids help in protein synthesis, performance, and well-being. Zinc and collagen maintain the strong hooves and the coat quality. Adequate levels of methionine in the diet can support a healthy coat by increasing the availability of the amino acid cysteine. The sulfur bonds between cysteine residues in keratin provide the rigid structure of the hoof protein. Horses with coarse, brittle hair might particularly benefit from methionine in their diet.
